Summary
Arsenal One (also known as Arsenal-1) is a hyper-scale manufacturing facility established by Anduril Industries in Pickaway County, Ohio, designed for the mass production of software-defined hardware and autonomous military systems. Powered by the Arsenal software-driven manufacturing platform, the facility aims to modernize the defense industrial base by applying commercial-scale production techniques to military technology. Spanning up to 5 million square feet, it is intended to produce tens of thousands of autonomous vehicles and weapons annually, including the Fury combat drone, Roadrunner VTOL drone, and Barracuda cruise missiles. The project is a key element of Anduril's strategy for U.S. re-industrialization and supply chain security, projected to create over 4,000 jobs by 2035 and contribute nearly $1 billion to Ohio's gross domestic product.

- Rebuild the Arsenal | Anduril | Anduril
We are setting ambitious goals for Arsenal-1, our first hyper-scale facility. At full-rate production, it will employ more than 1,500 people, encompass up to 5 million square feet of manufacturing capacity, and be able to produce tens of thousands of autonomous military vehicles and weapons (minus the energetics) of all different kinds each year. The entire manufacturing platform will also be fully replicable. Arsenal-1 will be located in the United States, but Arsenal-2, Arsenal-3, and other future factories could be located in allied countries. That model scales indefinitely and makes it possible to rebuild the arsenal of democracy not as a U.S. capability alone, but as the aggregation of allied production capacity. [...] Because we have conviction in our vision for Arsenal, we are not waiting for others to make it a reality. We are moving forward with a considerable investment—eventually reaching hundreds of millions of dollars—to bring Arsenal-1 to life. In time, we expect government partners in the United States and our democratic allies to invest along side us to stand up future Arsenals. After all, larger amounts of resources from a larger number of partners only increases the speed and scale of production capacity. And we think the best way to rally this support is by taking the first step ourselves. [...] Image 14 [FIG.b] Concept Art ARSENAL-1 2024 SOFTWARE-ENABLED ADVANCED MANUFACTURING FACILITY 5 MIL. SQ. - As Fury production starts, Anduril pledging a different production approach at Arsenal-1 - Breaking Defense
Breaking Defense Newsletter Signup ## Featured: COLUMBUS, Ohio — A new Anduril factory in Ohio has begun manufacturing the Fury autonomous combat drone, as the company sets its sight on a lucrative US Air Force follow-on contract for Collaborative Combat Aircraft. But Anduril, which has bet big on the facility dubbed “Arsenal-1,” is pledging that Fury is just the start. By the end of the year, the factory will be home to production lines for the vertical takeoff and landing drone known as Roadrunner and the Barracuda low-cost cruise missile, as well as standing up production of a classified platform in a separate portion of “Building 1,” company officials said. [...] They also declined to comment on the production ramp up that would occur if Anduril wins a contract for YFQ-44 production later this year. However, at full capacity, the line is capable of producing 150 aircraft per year if it runs three eight-hour shifts daily, said John Malone, Anduril’s head of production for autonomous airpower said. “It’s really about getting affordable mass to the war fighter as fast as possible,” Malone said. “And the Air Force has really motivated and encouraged industry, including Anduril and our other partners, to get high volumes ready for battle within the decade.” Workers walk the line at Anduril’s Arsenal-1 factory in Ohio. (Valerie Insinna/Breaking Defense) ## How Fury Gets Made [...] Technicians will follow the aircraft as it moves its way through the 22 stations when work starts at Arsenal-1 , but as production numbers ramp up, technicians will continually work the same station as the aircraft moves through the process, Malone said. RELATED: Anduril drone wingman prototype makes first flight, Air Force says “That also makes the training of new workforce more straightforward, because initially the technicians know basically how to build an aircraft from start to finish,” he said. “But as we add more workforce in, they start specializing in either maybe one or two stations, and then ultimately one station. That lets the technician only have to know two and a half days worth of work, and it gets their cycle times faster.”
