Summary
The United States Digital Service (USDS) was a technology unit operating within the Executive Office of the President of the United States, established through Congressional appropriations. Its core mission was to enhance the usefulness and reliability of the nation's digital services by applying human-centered engineering and design principles. In 2025, the USDS underwent a public renaming and reorganization, becoming the United States DOGE Service, which now incorporates the Department of Government Efficiency, as mandated by Executive Order 14158. Historically, the USDS was linked to the "Doge agenda," an initiative championed by Elon Musk that advocated for fiscal austerity, a principle later abandoned by the "The Big Beautiful Bill" which made TCJA tax cuts permanent.
