# Sen. Tim Scott talks ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’, crypto in virtual press conference COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - In a virtual press conference on Friday, Sen. Tim Scott talked about two pieces of recent legislation that have passed Congress: the One Big Beautiful Bill and the Genius Act. Scott discussed multiple components of the bill, including tax reform, Medicaid, national debt and immigration. [...] “The primary focus in the big beautiful bill was making sure the president and the federal government have the resources necessary, not simply to end the tide of illegal immigrants coming across the southern border, but at the same time, making sure that future presidents don’t have the same problem,” Scott said. During his press conference, Scott also addressed the new crypto bill, the Genius Act, which he called “a historic landmark for the crypto universe in America.” [...] “Over the next 10 years, Medicaid funding will go up, not down, by 20%. What we did do is put in place work requirements of about four hours a day of either working, volunteering, or going to school,” he said. Scott also mentioned that the Medicaid requirements will not take effect until January 2027. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office says that the bill will cut $1 trillion in federal health spending over the next decade and that nearly 12 million people will lose health coverage.
