Summary

IT consulting firms are professional service providers that offer specialized expertise and labor, primarily advising company executives on how to best utilize technology to achieve business objectives, drive digital transformation, and enhance efficiency and cybersecurity. These firms, which can range from small operations to multinational giants like Accenture, Deloitte, and McKinsey, contribute significantly to the global consulting market, generating hundreds of billions in annual revenues and experiencing substantial growth, such as the $170 billion growth revenue reported by the top 10 firms between 2010 and 2015. However, the industry has also faced considerable scrutiny, particularly for practices like labor arbitrage, which, as discussed in the context of the Trump Administration's proposed H-1B visa program overhaul, are seen by some as an abuse of the system that negatively impacts American workers.
