Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications

The Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) is the body in which the regulators of the telecommunications markets in the European Union work together. Other participants include representatives of the European Commission, as well as telecommunication regulators from the member states of the EEA and of states that are in the process of joining the EU.

  Building on these reports and taking into account the results of the [public consultation launched in 2013](http://ec.europa.eu/finance/consultations/2013/esfs/index_en.htm), the [public consultation launched in 2016](http://ec.europa.eu/finance/consultations/2016/macroprudential-framework/index_en.htm) and the [public consultation launched in 2017](https://web.archive.org/web/20220619215421/https://ec.europa.eu/info/consultations/public-consultation-operations-european-supervisory-authorities_en), the Commission adopted a [package of proposals to strengthen the ESFS in September 2017](https://finance.ec.europa.eu/publications/communication-reinforcing-integrated-supervision-strengthen-capital-markets-union-and-financial_en). On 18 December 2019, the European Parliament and the Council signed [Regulation (EU) 2019/2175](https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX:32019R2175), which reviews the powers, governance and funding of the ESAs. Also as part of the ESFS review,[Regulation (EU) 2019/2176](https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX:32019R2176) of 18 December 2019 amended the Regulation establishing the European Systemic Risk Board.
