Stoke City Football Club has its origins in Stoke Ramblers, a team formed by former pupils of the Charterhouse School whilst they were apprentices at the North Staffordshire Railway. The club dropped the Ramblers from their name, becoming Stoke Football Club. In 1925, the club's name was changed for the final time to Stoke City Football Club when Stoke-on-Trent was granted city status. The club moved in 1997 to the Britannia Stadium, a 28,383 all-seater stadium; having spent 119 years at the Victoria Ground. Stoke were one of the twelve founding members of the Football League in 1888. They failed re-election in 1890, but were re-admitted after winning the 1890–91 Football Alliance title. The team were relegated from the First Division in 1907 and entered liquidation the following year. Though the club was saved, Stoke were not re-elected until 1915, and instead spent the intervening years in the Birmingham & District League and Southern League. Promoted from the Second Division in 1921–22, they were relegated twice in four years by 1926. Stoke won the Third Division North in 1926–27 and then the Second Division title in 1932–33. They remained in the top-flight for 20 years, competing for the league title in 1946–47, and then spent a decade in the Second Division, before winning promotion as champions in 1962–63. Under the stewardship of Tony Waddington, Stoke won the League Cup in 1972 with a 2–1 victory over Chelsea, to date their only major honour. Stoke had also been beaten finalists in 1964. The club spent 14 years in the top-flight, and would secure promotion in 1978–79 after being relegated two years earlier. Stoke remained in the top-flight from 1979 to 1985, though were relegated to the Third Division in 1990. Having won the Football League Trophy in 1992, they were promoted as champions in 1992–93. Relegation in 1998 allowed the club to win another Football League Trophy title in 2000, before promotion was secured with victory in the 2002 play-off final. Manager Tony Pulis took Stoke into the Premier League at the end of the 2007–08 campaign. They played in the final of the FA Cup in 2011, finishing runners-up to Manchester City, which saw the club qualify for European football. Ten years of Premier League football culminated in relegation to the EFL Championship in 2018.

- Dribbling - Wikipedia
The dribble allows for much faster advancement and thus more opportunities for scoring. It also provides an opportunity for a crafty player on the opposing team to "steal" the ball in mid-bounce. Once a player stops dribbling the ball and holds it, the player normally must either pass it to another player or take a shot; if the player dribbles and then holds the ball in any way (either grasping it with their hands or arms, or "palming" it, i.e. holding it too much toward its underside during the act of dribbling) then continues to dribble, the referee stops the play, signals either "double dribble" or "carrying", and turns the ball over to the other team. A "double dribble" may also be called if the player tries to dribble with both hands at the same time. [...] ## Association football In association football, a dribble is one of the most difficult ball skills to master and one of the most useful attacking moves. In typical game play, players attempt to propel the ball toward their opponents' goal through individual control of the ball, such as by dribbling (the usage of technical maneuvers). In order to go past an opponent, dribbling can involve a wide variety of manipulative tricks and feints#Association_football "Dummy (football)"); Ronaldinho would often employ elaborate skills and feints, such as the elastico "Flip flap (association football)"), in order to beat defenders. They are attacking off the dribble and then pulling back in an attempt to create distance. After that attempt they are looking to blow by their opponent. Defense: On the defensive side we are looking to force the offense to change direction, and if we get beat to sprint and get back in front of our man. As this is taking place I am emphasizing our teaching points; no open hips, arm's length distance, hand checks, and anticipation of angles. Rotation: Once we reach the far sideline we are simply changing roles and running it back the other way. When that group is finished the next pairs jumps up and conducts their rep. I'm typically going to have each group get about 3-4 reps before we move on. Force Options - [...] Once players are paired up we will begin to execute 30 second possessions where the defense works on applying pressure to the ball, and the offense uses the space provided the handle the ball. Goals for Each Side: On the defensive side of the ball, we are trying to coach up the defenders to maintain an "arm's length distance", work on their stance, and use angles to cut off their dribble in either direction. The offensive players should try to maintain the vision of the hoop at all times while attempting to attack the defenders with the dribble. Obviously, we want the ball to remain in the designated area, which will require the offense to change speeds and set up their dribble. Rotation:
