Summary

Orange County, officially the County of Orange, is a major metropolitan hub in Southern California's Greater Los Angeles area. As of the 2020 Census, it is the third most populous county in California and the sixth in the United States, with a population of 3,186,989. Known for its 40-mile Pacific coastline and 34 incorporated cities, the county is anchored by its seat, Santa Ana, and major cities like Anaheim and Irvine. It serves as a global tourist destination, hosting the Disneyland Resort and Knott's Berry Farm, while also functioning as a center for higher education and research through institutions like the University of California, Irvine. Geographically, the county transitions from flat coastal plains in the north to the Santa Ana Mountains in the northeast, and it is culturally divided between its historic 19th-century downtowns and modern "edge city" commercial developments.

This region is more Hispanic (mostly Mexican) and Asian (predominantly Vietnamese and Korean), more densely populated (Santa Ana is the among the most densely populated cities in the United States), younger, less wealthy and with higher unemployment.
