Summary

Division grifting is a tactic employed to create and exacerbate societal discord, often for political or financial advantage. A notable instance of this phenomenon is detailed in a Department of Justice indictment, which accuses two Russian operatives from Russia Today (RT) of orchestrating a scheme. These operatives allegedly funneled $10 million to Tenant Media, a company founded by Lauren Chen, with the explicit aim of disseminating pro-Kremlin narratives and sowing discord within the United States. This case highlights how external actors can exploit existing divisions to further their own agendas.
